Classroom Rules and Procedures
Our Classroom Rules:
1. ALWAYS....BE KIND!
2. Help others.
3. Ask Three Before Me (ask 3 friends for help before the teacher).
4. If your pencil breaks, or you need a new one, just go to the back of the room and walk around to get a sharpened pencil from tub.
5. We can only have water in the classroom. Water bottles will be kept under our desks. NO juice, flavored drinks or Gatorade in the classroom, please! It's fine in your lunchbox.
6. You may bring a healthy snack for snack time (10:30). We are a Healthy Choices school so please check the healthy snacks list below. Candy will not be permitted as a snack.
7. We will have 4 scheduled bathroom breaks. If you need to go to the bathroom during instruction, please wait until we are working independently to go. Try not to get up and go to the bathroom while the teacher is teaching/talking. One girl and one boy are permitted to go to the bathroom at a time. Put the pass on your desk. If it is an emergency...just go!
8. PLEASE just GO to the bathroom to use the toilet....the bathroom is not a playroom. The bathrooms are supervised by other teachers and administrators so please be on your best behavior. If you see other students making unwise choices, report it to your teacher.
Healthy Snacks (permitted in the classroom)
*We are a "nut-free" school*
granola, fruit or cereal bars
cheese crackers (Lance crackers, Cheez-its, etc.)
whole wheat crackers
fruit or fruit slices (please do not send peanut butter dips or caramel)
dried fruit snacks
nut-free trail mix
cereal mixes (nut-free Chex-Mix is okay)
pretzels
Goldfish crackers
string cheese or pre-sliced cheese with crackers
sliced vegetables or veggie sticks (no dips...please)
whole grain chips (Sun Chips, whole grain tortilla)
pita chips
Pirate Booty or Smart Puffs
Animal crackers
Nut-free cookies
NOT permitted
Takis (some children are allergic to the seasoning)
potato chips
nacho chips (Doritoes are a mess!)
Cheetos (see above)
heavily-seasoned chips (inhalant allergies)
*candy
soft drinks/soda
* I will occasionally offer a nut-free candy treat to students but never as a snack.
